Immigration Health Surcharge refunds for NHS and social care workers

Lamin Sarr

The PM has made this announcement during the Prime Minister's question last week as an answer to a question he was asked, said

"NHS or care workers who have paid the surcharge since 21 May will be refunded, and we are getting on with instituting the new arrangements as fast as we possibly can".

This is great news for all those affected and of course the most sensible and humane thing to do following the sacrifice these people made and continue to make for the UK. With Government announcements like this, often the issue is timing, when will the policy be put in place. The reassuring point here is the PM has committed to a date in the past and all those falling within that date should be eligible for a refund.
